The wonder in a child’s eye is one is one of best possible sights in the world. The look of wanting to learn more, the look of seeing something amazing for the first time, the look of satisfaction on learning something new, these are all ways that we see the look of wonder. Although it is not something tangible, the excitement and enthusiasm when something new is discovered cannot be matched.
Wonder can be witnessed in small and large ways. The new blossoms and growth of spring, finding treasure on the playground and seeing the new caterpillars continue their lifecycle are just a few things we have found recently in our class. All these seemingly small things help to foster a desire to see and learn more. By building on the small things the kids learn how all these small parts work together to make something far larger. The idea of wonder also helps to foster a lifelong want to learn and experience new things.
