At Montview, we believe that Kindergarten should be ready for your child—no matter where they are on their growth journey. Our play-based curriculum combines social-emotional learning with intellectual growth, meeting children where they are and fostering a love of learning.

At Montview, you will find:

  • Our dedicated approach to social-emotional development helps children navigate their emotions and build strong friendships. We know that understanding oneself and others is crucial for success in school and life.
  • Montview Kindergarten embraces the unique developmental path of every child. We don’t ask, “Is your child ready for Kindergarten?” Instead, we focus on creating an environment where every child can thrive, whether they’re moving on to first grade or spending an additional year with us in transitional Kindergarten.
  • Historically, 70% of our students successfully transition to first grade, while 30% benefit from another year of kindergarten, usually in the elementary school of their choice. Our curriculum aligns with the Colorado Learning Standards, ensuring our 5-year-olds are learning, challenged and supported.
  • Choosing Montview Kindergarten gives you another year to actively participate in your child’s education and gives your child more time to grow, giving you more accurate information as to what their best next step should be. Experience the joy of watching them grow in a nurturing environment and forming strong relationships with peers and teachers.
  • At Montview, your child is not just a number. They’ll be leaders in our small school community, gaining confidence and developing essential social skills in a supportive atmosphere.
  • Our play-based classroom is a place of wonder, acceptance, and joy. Children love coming to school, where they explore, create, and learn through play.

Through the work of our Kindergarten Task Force, our 2016 Kindergarten survey, and consultation with staff, parents, the Parent Committee, and the Governing Commission, it is clear to us that Montview’s Kindergarten offers the community a school choice that is not readily available anywhere else.

Why choose Montview Kindergarten? Here’s what alumni families are saying:

“We chose Montview because we wanted to give our child the gift of a magical kindergarten experience. We know that Montview offers children something special and unique in the way that authentic learning happens through meaningful play, exploration of feelings, and the importance of imagination. Montview is a place that recognizes the true growth of a child at this age and offers a safe place where their hearts and minds are cared for and nurtured in the best of ways.” – Andrea & Cary Hickerson
“We loved the freedom to learn through exploration! There is no substitute for play and Montview provides such a fun environment to do so. We also loved the social emotional component of the program. My kids learned lessons they’ll carry with them the rest of their lives.” – Megan Harrison
“In looking at schools for my daughter, I wanted a Kindergarten that was age appropriate and met the needs of early learners. The idea of her sitting in a desk for 7 hours a day didn’t appeal to me. I loved that Montview had plenty of time for movement and play, and taught the basic skills in an age appropriate, hands-on manner. I loved that the academic side was interwoven into the play and exploration of the day. Kids wrote about their creations, practiced math during their play and read books that appealed to them. I also appreciated the way that Montview helped my daughter establish the rhythm and routine of school rather than forcing it on her from day one.” – Lisa Davis
